Supporting Individuals with Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities (IDD) through Safe, Reliable, and Person-Centered Transportation

 

At Allegheny Alliance, we are committed to providing high-quality, individualized transportation services that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in accessing community resources, employment, and essential services. As a Transportation Services Provider, you will play a crucial role in helping individuals maintain independence and community participation in alignment with ODP regulations and Pennsylvania’s waiver programs.

 

This position requires a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and person-centered service while ensuring compliance with all state and program-specific transportation guidelines.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Transportation Services (Per Mile)

  • Provide safe, timely, and reliable transportation to and from designated locations as outlined in the individual’s service plan (ISP).
  • Transport individuals to:
  • Day programs, employment sites, medical appointments, community activities, and other specified locations in accordance with their ISP.
  • Waiver-approved destinations that align with ODP’s community integration goals.
  • Ensure transportation services align with waiver service definitions and provider qualifications set forth by ODP.

 

Mileage Tracking & Documentation

  • Accurately track and document mileage for each trip, ensuring compliance with Medicaid waiver billing requirements.
  • Follow ODP guidelines regarding mileage reimbursement, ensuring:
  • The unit of service is defined as one mile and reimbursement is per trip.
  • Mileage is shared equitably among individuals when transporting multiple passengers.
  • Proper records are maintained and submitted to the Supports Coordinator for inclusion in the ISP and billing documentation.
  • Participate in ODP provider monitoring activities to ensure transportation records are accurate and compliant.

Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all traffic laws, vehicle safety regulations, and ODP transportation policies to ensure the well-being of individuals.
  • Conduct routine vehicle safety inspections to ensure reliability, cleanliness, and accessibility.
  • Follow individualized safety protocols, including accommodations for mobility aids, behavioral support needs, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality requirements regarding individuals’ personal information and service plans.

 

Communication & Support

  • Establish positive, professional relationships with individuals, families, caregivers, and support teams.
  • Communicate effectively and respectfully with individuals, considering their preferences, abilities, and unique communication styles.
  • Report any concerns regarding an individual’s safety, behavior, or well-being to the appropriate Supports Coordinator or program supervisor.
  • Assist individuals with boarding, exiting, and securing mobility aids if necessary, ensuring a safe and dignified travel experience.

 

Qualifications & Requirements

 

Required Credentials & Experience

  • Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Reliable, insured vehicle that meets ODP and state transportation requirements.
  • Knowledge of ODP waiver services and person-centered transportation practices preferred.
  • Experience working with individuals with IDD, autism, or other disabilities is a plus.

  • Strong attention to safety and detail, ensuring compliance with transportation policies and regulations.
  • Ability to accurately track mileage, document trips, and submit required records.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact professionally and respectfully with individuals and caregivers.
  • Patience, empathy, and a person-centered approach to supporting individuals with varying mobility and behavioral needs.

 

Additional Requirements

  • PA Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Fingerprinting in compliance with ODP regulations.
  • Ability to pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) check and comply with transportation provider safety requirements.
  • Completion of ODP-mandated training on transportation safety and waiver compliance.
