As a Homemaker Services Provider, you will assist individuals and their families in maintaining their primary private residence through household cleaning, meal preparation, organization, and infection control measures. This role aligns with Pennsylvania’s Office of Developmental Programs (ODP) regulations and ensures that individuals can live in a comfortable, sanitary, and well-maintained home that promotes their health, dignity, and independence.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Household Cleaning & Laundry

  • Perform routine household cleaning, including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces to maintain a clean and safe living environment.
  • Launder clothing, linens, and household fabrics according to individual preferences and care requirements.
  • Ensure household supplies (e.g., cleaning products, laundry detergent, paper products) are well-stocked and properly stored.

 

Meal Preparation & Nutrition Support

  • Prepare nutritious, well-balanced meals that align with the individual’s dietary needs, preferences, and any prescribed meal plans.
  • Follow food safety guidelines to ensure meals are prepared, stored, and served in a hygienic manner.
  • Assist with grocery shopping, meal planning, and kitchen organization to support healthy eating habits.

 

General Household Organization & Safety

  • Assist in organizing and decluttering living spaces, including bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and common areas to create a safe and functional home.
  • Change bed linens, organize personal belongings, and ensure walkways are clear to prevent accidents or falls.
  • Identify and report any household hazards or maintenance concerns to ensure a safe living environment.

 

Infection Control & Health-Safety Measures

  • Implement infection control practices to minimize the risk of illness and maintain a sanitary environment.
  • Regularly clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces, assistive devices, and commonly used household items.
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals and PPE use when necessary.

 

Intensive Cleaning & Specialized Disinfection

  • Conduct deep-cleaning sessions to maintain hygiene and sanitation, particularly in areas where medical or assistive equipment is used.
  • Disinfect medical equipment, mobility aids, and personal care devices in accordance with health and safety standards.
