As a Physical Therapist (PT), you will play a key role in helping individuals of all ages improve their mobility, manage pain, and achieve optimal physical function following injury, illness, or surgery. Your expertise in therapeutic techniques, exercise prescription, and patient education will contribute to enhancing patients’ quality of life and maximizing their independence and participation in daily activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Comprehensive Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients’ musculoskeletal, neurological, and cardiopulmonary function, as well as their movement patterns, strength, flexibility, and balance.
    • Analyze assessment findings to formulate accurate physical therapy diagnoses and develop individualized treatment plans based on patients’ functional goals and rehabilitation needs.
  2. Therapeutic Interventions and Treatment:
    • Design and implement evidence-based physical therapy interventions and treatment techniques to address patients’ impairments, functional limitations, and activity restrictions.
    • Provide manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, gait training, neuromuscular re-education, modalities, and other specialized interventions to promote optimal physical function and pain relief.
  3. Patient Education and Home Exercise Programs:
    • Educate patients and their families about their condition, treatment options, and self-management strategies, empowering them to actively participate in their own care and rehabilitation process.
    • Develop individualized home exercise programs and provide instructions on proper technique, progression, and safety precautions to support patients’ ongoing recovery and maintenance of gains.
  4. Progress Monitoring and Outcome Measurement:
    • Monitor patients’ progress and response to therapy through ongoing reassessment, objective measurement tools, and outcome measures, adjusting treatment plans as needed to optimize outcomes and achieve therapeutic goals.
    • Document patient evaluations, treatment sessions, progress notes, and discharge summaries accurately and in compliance with regulatory standards and practice guidelines.
  5. Interdisciplinary Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including physicians, surgeons, nurses, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals, to coordinate patient care and achieve holistic treatment outcomes.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members, providing updates on treatment progress, discharge planning, and recommendations for continued care.
  6. Professional Development and Leadership:
    • Engage in continuous learning, professional development, and evidence-based practice to enhance clinical knowledge, skills, and competencies in the field of physical therapy.
    • Serve as a resource and mentor to colleagues, students, and other healthcare professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration within the healthcare team.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program with a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist (PT) in the state of practice.
  • CPR certification; additional certifications in specialty areas such as orthopedics, neurology, pediatrics, or geriatrics may be preferred.
  • Strong clinical reasoning, assessment, and treatment planning skills, with the ability to develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and goals.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills, with the ability to build rapport, establish trust, and motivate patients to actively participate in their rehabilitation.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care, with a commitment to promoting patients’ physical, emotional, and functional well-being.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, with flexibility to adapt to changing patient needs and clinical environments.
