As a Companion Services Provider, your primary responsibility will be to offer direct services to individuals aged 18 and older who reside in private homes. The aim of companion services is to provide supervision or assistance that ensures the individual’s health, safety, and welfare, while also assisting in performing incidental activities of daily living. This service is designed to support individuals in participating more meaningfully in home and community life.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision and Assistance:
    • Provide supervision and assistance to individuals as needed, ensuring their health, safety, and welfare are maintained at all times.
    • Offer support with activities such as meal preparation, medication reminders, and personal hygiene tasks, based on the individual’s individual needs.
  2. Incidental Activities of Daily Living:
    • Assist individuals with incidental activities of daily living, including light housekeeping, laundry, and grocery shopping, to promote their independence and well-being.
  3. Companionship and Socialization:
    • Engage in meaningful interactions and conversations with individuals to provide companionship and emotional support.
    • Encourage participation in social activities and community events to enhance the individual’s quality of life and sense of belonging.
  4. Safety and Emergency Preparedness:
    • Remain vigilant and proactive in identifying potential safety hazards or risks in the individual’s  environment, taking necessary precautions to prevent accidents or injuries.
    • Be prepared to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations, following established protocols and seeking assistance as needed.
  5. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate records of services provided, including daily activities, observations, and any notable changes in the individuals’s condition or behavior.
    • Report any concerns or incidents promptly to the appropriate supervisor or designated contact, ensuring timely communication and follow-up.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working in a caregiving or supportive role preferred.
  • Understanding of basic principles of care and support for individuals with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with individuals and their families.
  • Compassionate, patient, and dependable demeanor, with a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
  • Willingness to undergo background checks and any required training or certifications.
