Responsibilities:
- Nursing Division Leadership:
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the nursing division, aligning nursing practices with the organization’s mission, vision, and goals.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and implement nursing strategies, policies, and programs that promote quality, safety, and patient-centered care.
- Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement within the nursing division.
- Lead and inspire nursing leaders and staff to achieve operational and clinical objectives.
- Clinical Excellence and Practice Standards:
- Establish and maintain evidence-based nursing practice standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
- Promote the implementation of clinical pathways, protocols, and best practices to enhance patient outcomes and improve quality metrics.
- Collaborate with nursing leaders to develop and implement educational programs and initiatives to enhance clinical competency and professional development.
- Monitor and analyze nursing quality indicators, patient satisfaction data, and performance metrics to drive improvement efforts.
- Patient Safety and Risk Management:
- Develop and implement strategies to ensure patient safety, including the identification and mitigation of risks and the promotion of a culture of safety.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to develop and implement patient safety initiatives and quality improvement programs.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to patient safety and risk management.
- Oversee the investigation of adverse events and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, allied health professionals, and other departments, to ensure effective coordination of care and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Participate in hospital-wide committees and initiatives to represent nursing interests and contribute to organizational decision-making.
- Foster effective communication and collaboration among nursing staff and interdisciplinary teams.
- Budgeting and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage the nursing division budget, ensuring effective utilization of resources and alignment with organizational goals.
- Monitor and analyze financial and operational performance metrics, making data-driven decisions to optimize resource allocation and enhance efficiency.
- Collaborate with the finance department to develop financial forecasts, cost-saving initiatives, and revenue enhancement strategies.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN). Master’s degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration is preferred.
- Current and active Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
- Proven experience in nursing leadership positions, preferably as a Chief Nursing Officer, Vice President of Nursing, or in a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of nursing practice, standards, and regulations.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
- Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong understanding of healthcare quality improvement initiatives, patient safety, and risk management practices.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement evidence-based nursing practices and initiatives.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Financial acumen and experience in budgeting and resource management.
- Proficiency in using healthcare management systems and technology.
